I’m no psychologist or anything, but I’m pretty sure the human condition of men & women and girls & boys remains constant throughout all our years on this earth. Boys tease = girls cry. Women prod or nag = men scrunch their noses. Such is so with these two fun and fabulous cousins, Aubrey and Delaney. Only a year and change apart, they are best friends! Delaney clearly looks up to Aubrey and follows directly behind in his footsteps. When trying to take pictures of just Delaney, she would run off yelling, “Aub-wee!! Aub-wee!!” They hug, they kiss, they laugh, they cry and after about 15 minutes into our shoot, they both decided they did NOT want their pictures taken any more!
Delaney is a sweet little girl with stunning, glassy-blue eyes and perfectly wavy brown hair. Her pale pink, rosey cheeks are foreshadow of her peaceful temperament. Although she didn’t like looking at me too much (it took 4 grown adults to get her to look my way!), the pictures I snapped really show off her gentle personality. Aubrey, her older cousin (and the son of my former boss/co-worker, Jessica), is about as deep as a 10-foot pool. In an effort to distract him from posing with his “Cheeeeeseee” grin, I asked him what kind of stuff he saw around him. If you ever want to talk again, never ask a 3-year old that question. He sure saw a lot of stuff, and proceeded to tell me what each of the “stuff” did – the van in the driveway is big because it has to hold a lot of people, Delaney is running around in her diaper because she likes to be ‘nickid’ (naked), etc. What a smart little blondie.
Anyway, it was a blast and I think the kids wore me out moreso than I wore them out. Apparently Aubrey hit the hay pretty early that night! Thanks to BOTH families for coming out and hiking all around the state park with me!
Enjoy!
Both kids were rewarded (i.e. BRIBED) close to the end to cooperate. This one actually turned out to be one of my favorites!
Boys will be boys. Aubrey carried this stick around with him the entire time!
Aubrey has so many expressions. This one is totally priceless!
Ok, THIS one is totally priceless!!! Someone show this picture to Delaney’s husband some day!
Oh my, this was close to the beginning of our shoot. I believe they were both screaming “Stop with the pictures!!!”
Please take note of Blondie’s head from behind the tree…

Last but not least, my favorite picture from the day!
