Long distance love: often the most challenging kind. In Sara and Jairo’s case, absence DID make the heart grow fonder. They met while Sara was studying abroad in college. They fell in love overseas, and when it was time for them to go their separate ways, their hearts remained each other’s. Their romance was not over. They continued their relationship for a while, and in January, Jairo jumped on a plane from Columbia and proposed…in downtown Annapolis. Smitten for each other and determined to be apart no longer, they decided to get hitched just 4 months later….back in Annapolis.

I waited for them at the courthouse, just off of Church Circle. It was a muggy May morning. It was still early, so cars were buzzing around the circle and people making a timely clip to work. As I waited, I glanced this couple walking towards me, blissfully holding hands and gazing at each other. Of course, it was Sara and Jairo, and behind them, a brood of their closest friends and family who came to support them. I stole them away for some pictures in their wedding attire, then we all headed into the courthouse to have them tie the knot. While we all waited, Sara and Jairo giggled anxiously with their friends. It was quiet and perfectly intimate. Finally, they exchanged some tearful and joyful vows, hugged their family and walked out hitched! They wanted some more casual shots around Annapolis afterwards, so they ditched the wedding attire and we headed around the side streets of charming Annapolis to take some more pictures.

I was floored by the love these two share. It’s pure and simple, but completely genuine and real. Sara was glowing, and Jairo was completely taken by his beautiful bride. I’m so thankful that I get to document their bigger wedding, to take place later this year when ALL of their friends and family can join them to celebrate! Congratulations Sara and Jairo, and many blessings to you as you enjoy lots and lots of happy years together.
