It was a rainy October afternoon, but it didn’t seem to phase either one of them. Michael was at home getting ready with his closest friends, and Lydia was getting settled up the interstate with her family. The whole day was emotional for them as they exchanged vows to love each other faithfully “forever and ever.” They walked blissfully out of the church and just as they stepped out, the rain stopped, the sun came out and a rainbow appeared. They kissed under it, smiled, and just whispered “forever and ever” in each others ears.
Lydia’s family is from Puerto Rico and all but one of her 8 brothers and sisters flew up for the event. The day was filled with such emotion and joy, it was overwhelming to all present. Oh, and those Puerto Ricans know how to party! After watching their guests through a lens for a few hours, I’ve decided I want to take dancing lessons. I’ve never seen tango, salsa and merengue danced like that! If only my hips would move like theirs did… hum, shall work on that in 2010.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day, despite the outrageous downpour! I wish Michael and Lydia the utmost happiness and joy in their new marriage and indeed, a big “forever and ever.” Thanks for letting me capture the day for you!
Enjoy!

Lydia and Michael are both in the Army. She had requested to have Michael change from his uniform into his tux. It was brilliant and they ended up being some of my favorite pictures from the day!

Michael and his best man… imparting advice.

So happy!

This is one of my favorites. This is Lydia’s step-father and he was so cute. He was very soft-spoken, but kept a smile on the entire day.

Lydia and her sister… they were very emotional before the wedding and kept sharing sweet moments.

Fall!

Walter Reed Chapel is beautifully Gothic! I loved all the details there.

Through the back door of the church. Love this shot.

Michael and Lydia did something I’d never seen at a wedding before, but it was such a great idea. After they lit the Unity candles, Michael and Lydia gathered around their immediate family, and each one of them lit their candle from Michael and Lydia’s, representing the unifying of the two families.

Newlyweds!

Is she not gorgeous!? Michael was making her giggle all day, it was so cute!

Out front of Walter Reed’s chapel.

There were several toasts before dinner! This one was especially moving. The toast was given in Spanish, so Lydia’s brother translated for all the non-Spanish speakers in the audience. So sweet.

Even the little kids know how to dance. This little guy was dancing with everyone: from the grown-ups, to the flower girls, to the baby. S-T-U-D.

Lydia’s Dad knows how to DANCE! He was so great and was totally focused.

Lydia and Michael are so funny!!! They kept making silly faces at each other to get each other to smile! You guys are the best! Congratulations again!
